Southern Maintenance Services Company Limited (SMSCL) started over two decades ago and has grown into a staff of over two hundred professionals providing services to companies in the oil and gas sector. Efficient and excellent service is abundant at SMSCL but what the company lacked was the adequate marketing tools to represent them effectively. C7 Caribbean’s objective was to design and build an online presence representative of the productivity, quality and excellence that SMSCL stands for.
Taking the Time to Listen and Learn
Our web development and design teams met with the management team and the C.E.O of the company. We took the time to listen and learn about the company’s history, its principles, culture and their plans for the future. A key part of our web design process is discovery. We know that to build an online presence or to level up a clients’ digital game, listening to discover is absolutely important.
During our interactions and discussions with the company, one major theme surfaced, ‘Representation That Builds Trust’. The company has so much knowledge, expertise and capability but didn’t have the mechanism in place to represent them. Great representation is key, especially before potential clients online that may use search engines like Google or even offline like when SMSCL is bidding for new contracts. The company needed a business website that would build credibility and get more leads. Coupled with that, they requested that we design a digital brochure that can be accessed or sent to potential clients. This would form part of their offline marketing strategy.
Organically Creating Content
Understanding that there was no real material online representing the business publicly, we knew that or approach needed to be a wholistic one. Beginning by organically creating content that would be needed to engage visitors on their website and
readers of the brochure. To accomplish this, we delved into the everyday operations of SMSCL. Our team conducted interviews with past and present clients. Our photographer spent time curating images of the SMSCL team at work, interacting with the industry they serve every day and our copywriter used these curated materials as building blocks to create copy that expressed the company’s commitment to excellence and service.

Taking the time to discover the company’s goals, objectives and target markets helped us to create a clean and modern design. We didn’t forget to take into consideration the company’s rich history but made sure to illustrate its relevance to the market and readiness to serve a modern clientele. After submitting a series of initial designs to their team a final visual representation was chosen.

With the visual direction decided our web development team began production of each webpage and implementation of the website’s structure. Our team of web design experts did quality assurance. We conducted tests of the SMSCL website on every browser to ensure that the company is represented well on desktop and mobile. The digital brochure was created as an extension of the company’s online presence and it was made downloadable to visitors of the site with the ability for the SMSCL team to send to perspective clients that’s using any type of device.
As a result, SMSCL doesn’t just have an online representation. They have a digital home that is relevant to their industry and built with the modern internet user in mind.
